Our Dream Came True on May 23, 2014!

Some of you know that we recently moved to Wisconsin, but some may not know why. My husband is a Disabled/Combat Wounded Veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He served in Iraq in 2006-07 and just recently, in Afghanistan, in 2012-13. While he served in Iraq, he was in multiple explosions and incidences, which he received an undiagnosed TBI (traumatic brain injury) from and severe PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). With this past deployment to Afghanistan, he was in one event in which, he miraculously survived a suicide bomber; however, he received yet another TBI (traumatic brain injury). Due to this most recent TBI, my husband now has multiple permanent health issues and cognitive disorder. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with Valor during this deployment. On June 15, 2014, he was given Medical Retirement with retirement benefits, so he is no longer in the Army. He is waiting to be able to start back to college to finish his degree in Electrical Engineering.

Due to his service and injuries, we were chosen by Military Warrior Support Foundation, to be awarded a new mortgage-free home, which was donated by Bank of America. This program awards beautifully renovated MORTGAGE-FREE homes to wounded warriors and their families. We were beyond ecstatic when we found out that we were chosen for one. This was a huge blessing to us, and although it's been almost 2 months now since we moved in, we still wonder, sometimes, if this is all a dream that we are dreaming!

If you are a combat wounded Veteran/family or a Gold Star family, or if you know of someone who fits into those categories, please check out Military Warrior Support Foundation and Homes on the Homefront, which is through another non-profit called Operation Homefront. Both of these non-profits award homes to qualifying wounded Veterans and their families/Gold Star families. They have donated homes all throughout the United States of America.

We never thought we would own such a beautiful home, but thanks to this amazing organization, Military Warrior Support Foundation, and Bank of America, we are able to call this beautiful house "Our Home!"
