Sorry for the delays in blogging lately!

Hello everyone!

I wanted to apologize for the delay in blogging lately. Ever since my husband returned home from deployment to Afghanistan, wounded in action, in May, it's been chaotic. We have had things going on left and right. My husband was ordered to an Army base in Georgia and put into the Warrior Transition Battalion there, which is where they send wounded soldiers to either heal and return to duty or where the soldier get processed out via med board for medical discharge and medical retirements. Due to my husband's injuries he received from deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, he has been approved for a medical retirement, so he is currently going through the med board process. This whole process is a lengthy one, and it can take up a year before he gets out. We won't know when he's done until the military tells us. As the old adage goes, in the Army, "hurry up and wait." To be closer to my husband and so that we can be with him on a daily basis, instead of just seeing him for a day during the weekend, we moved our family 3 hours away to be near the Army base.

Since we moved here, it has been absolute utter chaos. Our A-honor roll student daughter, who has even been told she is probably gifted, is attending one of the worst schools imaginable, so we are having so many problems that I have decided to pull her out soon and home school her. I have never home schooled my kids, other than teaching them as infants and toddlers, and then I also help them on a regular basis to learn outside of class. I know this undertaking will be stressful, but our daughter's grades are being affected and so are her feelings about school in general (and she LOVES school, so that really bothers us). I am ready to start, but we have to wait to find out if the government will be paying us on the 15th of October or not. Yeah, one of the great things about being a military family, the President and Congress decide if they have to pay you or not, whenever they decide they have other bills to pay that are more important.

I have been looking for a nursing job. (I am a Licensed Practical Nurse in "real life.") I have not had much luck as most of the jobs are over an hour away, and the pay is really low, so it is really not worth the drive and putting the mileage on our new car. I had an interview recently, but it was for a pediatrician's office (our kids' pediatrician to be exact), and I have not heard back. I may not get the job since I don't have a lot of experience with pediatrics. I have been a nurse for 9 years, and almost all of my experience is in psychiatric of some kind. I hope I get the call back for the job, but I'm not holding my breath. If I don't get it, I will just keep looking. It would be nice though! The clinic is just 2 minutes down the road from us.

Our son started his 2nd year of preschool. This is his final year before he starts Kindergarten. He gets to ride a preschool school bus every morning. He loves it! I dread it though because he rides on the school bus for a half hour before he gets to school, and then in the afternoon, he is on the school bus for over 2 hours as the bus driver drops off the other kids. He has a great bus driver though, so I don't worry too much. (Ok, maybe just a little bit! LOL)

On top of that, our daughter just started her new Girl Scout troop, which is a little different for us now because for the past 3 years, I was the troop leader and founder of our other troop, and then 2 years before that I was the assistant troop leader of a previous troop of hers. This time, I'm just the proud mom of a Girl Scout! I just really want to be able to focus more on her instead of a whole troop.

So, now that I have explained my reasons for my delays, I hope that you all understand. :) Have a great rest of September! Fall is in the air, and I'm loving it!
